Consider this possibility.  Does anyone remember the intense marketing campaign that accompanied Windows 95?

This article from 14 years ago exposes that the NSA has had cryptographic keys built into the Windows operating system since Windows 95.  In 1998, at the Crypto conference, Nicko van Someren, in his presentation likely on this paper found multiple crypto keys in a benign driver, ADVADPI.  Later, when a version of Windows NT4 SP5 mistakenly shipped with some debugging symbols that normally would have been stripped, the key was matched up to a variable called NSAKEY.

And even later, a third key showed up in a copy of Windows 2000.

This is all very disturbing for any of us who have ever used a computer.  For anything at all, whatsoever.
